Enjoying its 20th anniversary, the Drake Park Munch & Music free concert series continues to be a summertime favorite. Founded by Cameron Clark, owner of C3 Events, the weekly series provides the community of Central Oregon with a great chance to strengthen their bond while enjoying the arts, outstanding food and free music.
This energetic and positive gathering place allows us to provide dependable opportunities for youth to participate, work, and volunteer in their community. And we accomplish this in a way that respects the adjacent neighborhoods.
Each week this season will honor a "Munch and Music Maker"; an individual who was instrumental in building the foundation for and supporting the growth of Munch and Music.
This weeks honoree is Bruce Reynolds.
Bruce grew up in Eugene, Oregon, but has many families ties to Bend. His Grandfather was a doctor in Bend from the 1920's to 1940's, and his Dad, also a doctor, was a graduate of Bend High School. Bruce's grandfather helped bring the large logging wheels, located in Drake Park, to the city many years ago to recognize Central Oregon's logging history. Bruce moved to Bend in 1978, right out of college, to work for the Bend-La Pine School District. He has worked for the school district for 32 years spending time at Kenwood Elementary School, Elk Meadow Elementary School, and for the past seven years as the Principal at R.E. Jewell Elementary School. Jewell is recognized as one of seven K- 12 "Champion" schools in the state of Oregon for their high academic achievement levels and for making substantial progress in closing achievement gaps between sub-groups of students. More recently, Bruce was named the 2010 Oregon Elementary Principal of the Year, and as a National Distinguished Principal. He will be traveling to Washington, D.C. in the fall for recognition and meetings at the White House, U.S. State Department, and the U.S. Department of Education. Bruce is married to his wife Tracy, and has twin sons--Zach and Taylor, who attend Oregon State University. Bruce loved working with Munch & Music and helping with an event that has become synonymous with summer in Central Oregon. Bruce kept track of finances for Munch & Music throughout the year and also helped with beverages and accounting on Thursday nights. Bruce believes that it is important to give back to the community, and Munch & Music and working with Cameron Clark was a natural match to achieving this. A native Oregonian, Bruce Reynolds has had family ties to Bend since his grandfather’s logging days in the early 20s. After college, Bruce moved to Central Oregon to work for the Bend-La Pine School district, and 32 years later was named the 2010 Oregon Elementary Principal of the Year. Bruce started working with Munch and Music in [year], keeping track of finances and accounting and continues to love and support the event. “I believe it important to give back to the community. Munch and Music and working with Cameron Clark was a natural match to achieving this.”![Bruce_Photo[1].jpg](/Bruce_Photo[1].jpg)
