CO-PRESENTED BY WHOLE FOODS MARKET AND THE BULLETIN
Celebrating the return of the sun, the renewal of the earth, and the launching of a busy Central Oregon outdoor season, the free Bend Spring Festival takes place in the downtown-like corridor of NorthWest Crossing Drive, in the award winning NorthWest Crossing Neighborhood on Bend’s Westside. Thousands will come out to explore the original art, to get some tips from the Oregon State University Master Gardeners, to enjoy live music, great food, wine and beer. This is a lovely festival. To learn more about this neighborhood, go to www.northwestcrossing.com (Cottage Living Magazine named it one of the top ten Cottage Neighborhoods in the country!)

The term “souk” originates from the Middle East and is defined as an open-air market, and that’s just what you’ll find. With vendors and produce stands from India, Africa, Afghanistan, and other locations around the world, this area proves to be quite an international experience.
The Northwest Crossing Promenade line Northwest Crossing Drive with more than 40 artists vending a variety of mediums, including ceramics, jewelry, photography, painting, fiber arts, woodworking and furniture. Featured artists are selected by a panel of professional artists, gallery owners and art educators for various types of recognition. Artists will also be given awards for Best of Jury and Best of Show at the conclusion of the festival.
The festival will feature a robust children’s entertainment and performance area. On the Children’s Stage, The Cascade Community School of Music will present a musical fairytale, complete with a princess, a wizard and a wishing well! Afterward, join the School for a crazy kazoo parade down NW Crossing Drive. Terpsichorean Dance Studios will do a ballet performance and workshop, with a coordinating tutu making activity. And, the younger event attendees can perform on stage with both the Central Oregon Belly Dance Guild and the Westside Village School Drum Ensemble with Shireen Amini. On Sunday, Gotta Dance Studios will perform a special sneak preview of their Spring Revue. Children’s performers Heather Pearl http://www.sterlingtalent.com/artists/heather_pearl.html and Leapin’ Louie (www.comedytricks.com ) will appear throughout the day Saturday and Sunday. And there will be incredible inflatable rides, gardening activities, face painting and more!
